Concrete Sculpture Repair

This is not so much a repair as an improvement. The improvement involved removing old paint in areas where it was laid on too thick, was unsightly or about to separate from the concrete, clean the figure thoroughly and give it a “makeover” by just using paint.

This concrete sculpture is loosely based on “Bird Girl”, a work of fine art sculpted by Silvia Shaw Judson, an early twentieth-century American artist. Bird Girl became famous when it was featured on the cover of the novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Bird Girl is a traditional bronze with a somewhat grey patina. This concrete sculpture was painted grey to more closely resemble the original.
